Latest Craving - Tuna Macaroni Salad

4:18 PM Posted In , Edit This 0 Comments »
I had to share this recipe with you because it was so freaking delicious!

Ingredients

  • 3 cups elbow noodles
  • 1/3 cup Italian-style salad dressing
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup mayo
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 stalks celery, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 (6 ounce) can tuna, drained

Directions

  1. Cook pasta in a large pot of boiling salted water until done. Drain.
  2. Marinate macaroni in Italian dressing for 2 to 3 hours or overnight.
  3. Mix sour cream, mayonnaise, onion, celery, garlic powder, tuna, and salt and pepper into macaroni. Chill.

The only thing I did differently with this recipe was I used miracle whip instead of mayo and a 6 oz can of tuna really didn't seem like enough so I used a 12 oz can.  I also wish I would have added more celery.  But it was still freaking delicious!

32 Weeks!

Today I'm 32 weeks and Baby K is almost 4 pounds and just about 19 inches long!  Only 8 weeks to go!!

Baby K is doing great!  I had my 31 week appointment this week and his heartbeat was 148.  He kept kicking the doc when he was trying to get his heartbeat.  He must not have wanted someone poking him.  :)  Unfortunately I'm now measuring a week ahead.  Now when people tell me I look huge, they're right...  Oh well.

This weekend Phil and I attended the childbirth class.  It was Friday evening for a few hours and 8:30-4 on Saturday.  The class was pretty interesting and boring at the same time.  I feel like we learned a lot of useful information and I'm less stressed out about going into labor.  It makes me feel better to know exactly what's going to happen and what we can do to make it less painful.  Don't get me wrong, it isn't going to be a walk in the park but it makes me feel better knowing the good, the bad and the ugly.

I've been feeling a bit stressed out lately.  I feel like he will be here in no time and we don't have everything we need.  I'll feel much better after the baby shower and after we go buy the rest of the items we need.  The baby shower is in 2 weeks so hopefully I can just try to relax until then!  There's not a whole lot I can do before then.  I finished his curtains this weekend.  Well, that's a lie.  I literally just finished hemming the bottom of them and now I just need to iron them and hang them up.  I'm hoping to finish them tonight.  But let's be honest, I might not.  I'm starting to get a little lazy as the day goes on.  Oh well, they will for sure get done this week.

Latest cravings... tuna pasta salad, cinnamon life cereal and of course ice cream.

If it were my choice I wouldn't be taking a photo today.  I'm in no mood to care what I look like so I'm not going to.  Sorry folks but this is what you get...

You know what I'm so freaking sick and tired of?!  People (mostly strangers) asking me when my due date is and then saying something along the lines of "holy crap, you're huge"!  F*** you.  Short and sweet.

31 Weeks!

Today I'm 31 weeks and Baby K is still growing like a weed.  He's 3+ pounds and about 18 inches long.  He is approaching his birth length but still has a few more pounds to pack on before he's ready to meet us.  This week Baby K's testicles are moving through the groin on their way into the scrotum.  Exciting huh?  haha

I'm getting more and more uncomfortable.  It really wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the heat and my back pain.  I have to go to the chiropractor once a week now or it gets pretty painful.  I'm also running out of energy these days.  Only 9 weeks to go!  Thank god because I'm also running out of clothes to wear.  One week something fits and the next it doesn't...

This week I worked on Baby K's curtains.  All 4 panels are almost done.  All I have left to do is hem the bottom and iron them.  Phil helped me hang his mirror, his shelves and the curtain rods this morning.  After that we decided to head to Ikea to pick up the frame for his robots and a new ceiling light.  I feel much better now that those things are checked off my list!  I plan on finishing the curtains this next weekend and then I'll pretty much be done with his room until after the baby shower!  It's already so cute and it's not even done yet!! I can't wait to show you all the finished project.  :)

Next week is full of baby stuff.  I have my next doc appt and our childbirth class is next weekend.  I'm actually kind of excited for it!  I'm hoping to feel a lot better about giving birth and taking care of a newborn after our class.

Big Guy

Ok, so the spider I blogged about a week or two again wasn't so bad now that I saw this monster!  I'm not very comfortable with this big guy living outside our front door.  Hopefully he moves his house soon.  Like far, far away.

Vent Day!

What a shit day and it's only 8:00 in the morning.  Everything is going wrong today but what Phil did this morning trumps all of my other vents.  First of all, he left my car parked outside last night.  Ok, not a HUGE deal but I left it out because he was mowing the lawn and needs my vehicle out to pull the mower back in.  After mowing the lawn he knows to put my car back in the garage.  Did he?  Nope.  So guess what he did this morning... he backs up into my car.  Yep.  Nice bigggg noticeable scratch.  I know he didn't do this on purpose but seriously...  I'm still fuming at this point.  We switched insurance companies 3 days ago.  3 freaking days ago!  Do I file a claim and get it fixed with our deductible?  Then next year we won't get the claim free discount which would save us another $60ish on our bill.  Or do I take it into a shop to have it fixed it on my own?  I don't stinkin know how much it will cost for something like that because I've never had something like that happen to me.  Now if I had a shit car I wouldn't care.  I would just leave it alone.  But I have a nice car.  It's not cheap and I don't want it to look cheap.  And Phil says he can fix it on his own.  Bullshit.  He's never done bodywork on a car and I'm not about to let him "experiment" on mine.  F that.  He scratched it, he can pay to professionally fix it.  This is NOT something I want to have to deal with while being 8 months pregnant.

30 Weeks!

Today I'm 30 weeks and Baby K is weighing in at just over 3 pounds.  He’ll be packing on the weight at a rate of half a pound per week for the next seven weeks.  Esh, I can't even imagine getting much bigger!

I've been feeling like a whale lately.  Not only am I getting a bigger belly by the week but my ass & thighs are still getting larger, my feet and hands are swollen all the time and my face is starting to get fat.  And I have just over 2 more months to go.  Cool...  But Baby K seems to be doing just fine so that's all that matters!  He's kicking around all the time.  Sometimes it feels like he never sleeps!  Phil and I went on a date last night and saw the new Spiderman movie.  Baby K decided that it was a good time to learn how to nail me in the ribs for the first time.  Almost the entire movie it felt like he had his feet in my ribs and at times it hurt.  The little man is getting stronger!

Earlier this week Phil surprised me with a baby project he finished.  I got home and he told me to go look in the nursery.  I walked in and saw the rocking horse all painted!  It look super cute and I was so happy that he finished it!!  That's one more check off my list. :)  I also started his curtains this week.  It took me a few hours just to do one panel so that's all I have done atm.  My iron sucks ass and ironing is what took the longest.  So I decided it was time for a new iron so we picked one up today while running errands.  Hopefully this will help my projects go much faster!!  I'm very happy with the way the first panel turned out so I can't wait to see them done and hanging in the windows!

Sorry that you have to look at my bra this week.  I didn't realize it was hanging out when Phil took the picture and I was to lazy to have him retake it.

Why is it that some people feel the need to smack their gum?  I mean seriously… it’s freaking annoying.  I won’t name names but I have someone particular in mind.  A. You stick a piece of gum in your mouth and chew it for hours (doesn’t it get tasteless after a half hour?) and B. You smack and pop your gum for 3-4 hours and I have to listen to it.  Sometimes I’d like to tell you to shut up.  Who knows, maybe you do it to annoy me.  That would definitely not surprise me.

The not so itsy bitsy spider

I have to share with you the horrible experience I had in my car the other day.  So I was driving along, minding my own business and decided I didn’t need my visor down anymore so I put it back up.  Guess what was under the visor…  a big, huge, nasty spider!?!  Ahhh!!  Okay, honestly, maybe it wasn’t “huge” but it wasn’t small.  I could not concentrate on driving with him hanging out there staring at me.  So I grabbed a few napkins I had in my car and went to smash him.  As I was “smashing” him of course I squealed because it was scary.  I pulled the napkin away and he was still alive!  I must not have smashed him and he then crawled over my hand, down the steering wheel and down to the floor underneath me.  Let me tell you, this was not something that should be happening while driving a motor vehicle at 60 MPH.  I’m not afraid of spiders when they are just hanging out, minding their own business but when they touch me and are moving around… Esh!  So of course I was screaming trying to get away from the spider and trying to keep the car on the road at the same time.  I sure hope to god there isn’t a next time but in case there is maybe I’ll pull over to the side of the road before trying to smash a spider above my head.

29 Weeks!

Today I'm 29 weeks and Baby K is about 3 pounds and measures 17 inches long!  He's getting so big!!  Though he's getting pretty close to his birth length, he still has to chub out a bit.  Over the next 11 weeks, he'll more than double or even come close to tripling his weight.

I went to the doc for my glucose test this week.  I had to pee in a cup, drink a nasty orange drink, wait an hour and then have my blood taken.  The orange drink wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.  Not that I ever want to drink it again...  While I was waiting the hour to have my blood taken I had my appt w/the doc.  Everything looks great and Baby K is perfectly healthy.  His heartbeat was 131 and then he moved and it went to 141.  This week the doc also started measuring my belly and I'm right where I should be.  So when people tell me I look huge I can tell them to kiss it. ;)

Baby K is still very active.  He especially likes to dance on my bladder!  So far my bladder is the only thing he's kicked that has hurt.  Soon enough I'm sure he'll be kicking my ribs and other body parts.  Sometimes his kicks are so strong that my whole belly shakes.  I love to just watch my belly move with his little feet and hands pushing against it.  Makes me more and more excited to meet him and see the face of the little one kicking my insides!

It's been yet another week of not getting anything done for Baby K or his room.  The fabric for his curtains are coming next week and I should be able to get them sewed on Friday during my sewing date with my friend Lynsie, aka "loin".  There's really not a whole lot to be done right now anyways.  After the baby shower I can finish getting everything organized and ready.  Until then, there are just a few tiny projects to go (refinishing his rocking horse, buying a frame for his robots, hanging his shelves, mirror, etc.).

When I was out running errands this week I bought Baby K a cute little outfit that I just couldn't resist!!  I'm trying not to buy him too many clothes until after the baby shower so I know what I need more of.  But who could resist this little outfit and bib!?

Flower Bed

I just wanted to show you all our hard work!  Back when my mom was here at the end of May she helped Phil and I with our flower bed.  We definitely did not get it all finished but we finished the front of the house and one side of the garage.  We started with the part of the house that people would see the most.  Since then I've done a tiny bit more (would have done even more but it's too damn hot out for this pregnant gal) and I've planted annuals in all of the pots.  Let me tell you, I'm no gardener but I'm very proud of what's done and I can't wait to finish the rest!  It feels good to accomplish projects like this around the house!

This is basically what it looked like before we started and this is where we stopped.

Yikes!  Nothing but weeds!

This is what it looks like after all the weeds are gone!

I'm sorry that I'm a day late on Vent Day but I was busy yesterday doing absolutely nothing.  It was fabulous and doesn't happen often.  I was going to come up with a new vent for you but I must vent about the fabric again...

So, yesterday I got an email from Joann's that said they have now cancelled my order because the fabric I ordered is out of stock.  WTF  I was just pissed!  I called them what, a week ago and they said it was just on back-order and it would ship out after the 7th.  Now it's out of stock and I won't even get it?!  So pissed - A. Because I loved the fabric I picked out and B. Because of the hassle that I once again had to search and search for another fabric that I loved that was on sale because I was not willing to pay more than $8 a yard.  I'm happy to report that I did find another fabric and it was NOT from Joann's.  Stupid f'ing Joann's.

28 Weeks!

6:53 AM Posted In Edit This 2 Comments »
Hello third trimester!!!  Today I'm 28 weeks and Baby K is now about 2.5 pounds and almost 16 inches long. He's busy adding new skills such as blinking to an already impressive repertoire of tricks like coughing, sucking, hiccuping, and taking practice breaths.

This was a sad week.  I finally had to take off my wedding ring.  My fingers and feet are permanently swollen and it's been so darn hot out that I just can't wear it anymore.  Sad... :(  I bought a cheapo ring a size or two bigger to wear so I don't feel so naked.

In the last week or so I've been starting to feel more and more uncomfortable.  I've been uncomfortable at night for a while now but I'm starting to get uncomfortable during the day now as well.  Depending on how Baby K is sitting in my belly, sometimes I can't even bend over because he's so low.  I'm not always uncomfortable but it's definitely getting worse.  So I have a long 12 weeks to go!  Good thing I love him to death. :)

Nothing fun happening in the nursery this week.  I wanted to get his shelves and his mirror hung but that can wait.  I'm hoping to get a lot of projects done this next week because I only work Monday & Tuesday and then have 5 days off in a row!!  Whoot whoot!  And I get to hear his sweet sweet heartbeat again next week!  I can't wait!
