23 Weeks!

Today I'm 23 weeks and Baby K is the size of an eggplant.  Baby K is about to chub up!  Beginning this week, he'll start to pack on the pounds and by month's end he'll be double the weight he is now.

Baby K has been getting more and more active.  I feel him randomly throughout the day.  Sometimes it seems like he's kicking away in there for hours and other times he's only awake for 10 minutes and then goes back to sleep.  He doesn't seem to be on much of a schedule except the last few mornings he's up at 6:30 kicking away!  This was the first week that Phil got to feel him kicking from the outside!  It's an amazing feeling.  :)

I am not happy to report that I've received my first stretch mark.  It's very faint but it's there.  Immediately I told Phil that we cannot have anymore ice cream in the house.  I finished my last bowl last night and it's all I can think about right now.  Ugh, I hope the craving goes away.  My poor body just can't handle it.

My mom came down to visit and help me out with my projects this weekend.  She got to my house on Saturday morning with a truck full of flowers and then it started storming out and stormed the rest of the day.  I was pretty bummed about that but instead of working on the flower bed my mom finished painting the nursery (except the ceiling trim because we ran out of paint) while I finished my burp clothes.  Here they are all done!!!  They are so cute!  I bet you can tell which fabrics Phil picked out.

I also started my fabric hoop project Saturday night.  I sanded all of my hoops and Phil spray painted them white.  I'm still waiting for them to dry enough to work with.  Then it's assembly time!

Phil, my mom and I started working on the garden early this morning and after a few hours we got a good chunk done!  I basically got everything I wanted to get done done.  There is still plenty to go but the rest of it people can't see when they walk up to the front door.  It looks sooooo much better.  Now I won't be embarrassed when people come over!

Another Random Bullet Day

·         Victoria’s Secret – you can stop emailing me deals on underwear, swim suits and lingerie every single freaking day.  Do you realize you’re hurting my self esteem?  I’m 22 weeks pregnant and can no longer fit into your skimpy outfits and might never fit into them again.   I would appreciate it if you would stop emailing me.
·         Husband – seriously you need to buy more pants and work shirts.  You can’t just wear the same work shirt and jeans Tuesday-Saturday and not wash them.  There is a reason those clothes were in the hamper this morning and when I try to get you to wear something else you refuse.  Gross, enough said.
·         Baby K – I just love you.  Yesterday was the first day I felt you kick me from the outside and my heart just melted.  I was hoping you’d be active when I got home so your daddy could feel you and luckily you were!  Your daddy kind of jumped a little and said it was creepy.  But creepy in a good way. :)  He loves you too and wishes you were here already.  It’s amazing how one day you’re just not strong enough and the next day you’re so strong!!  You must have had a growth spurt over night which is probably why I’m so freaking tired lately!
·         Wardrobe – One day you fit me the next day you don’t.  My options are getting very limited these days and I’m not used to that.  I like to go home and get comfy right away by grabbing a t-shirt and comfy pants and my options for t-shirts are slim to none.  I might have to start wearing the husband’s small t-shirts soon…
·         Cravings – This insane craving for ice cream needs to go away before the love handles get bigger and my thighs and ass make my pants rip.  I could seriously eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Skip the meal, just give me dessert.  The weight is starting to show and I just made it past the half way mark.  Please please go away craving of mine.  It’s summer now and it’s not like I can cover up like I could in the winter.
·         Weather – please don’t rain on my parade all weekend long.  My mom is coming to visit and help me work on the flower bed.  Out of all my projects this is the one bothering me the most.  Our yard is hideous and my mom can do wonders with a flower bed.  Please don’t rain us out.  You have no idea how much this is bothering me!!!
·         That is all for now.

22 Weeks!

Today I'm 22 weeks and Baby K is the size of a papaya (not really sure how big that is).  He's kicking away in there more and more often and is getting a little stronger each week.  My favorite times of the day is when I get to feel him moving around.  :)

This week Baby K is fine-tuning his sense of touch (thanks to maturing brain cells and nerve endings). He might experiment with these newfound skills by feeling his face or anything else he can get his hands on.  Also this week his eyebrows start growing and hair will start sprouting on his little scalp.

I think Baby K went through a growth spirt this week because I was more tired than usual.  I've also been experiencing dizziness and the swelling in my hands and feet has started when I get warm.  When I cool back down the swelling goes back down.  So, hopefully it won't be too bad this summer but I'm guessing I'll swell up like a balloon.

My current cravings lately are Rice Crispy Treats cereal and ice cream.  I seriously cannot get enough ice cream.  Not a good thing to crave while pregnant since I'm starting to put on more weight than necessary!

This week I bought most of my fabric for my fabric hoop project.  I just need two more fabrics and I can get that project started.  I also bought the paint for Baby K's nursery and I put the first coat of paint on today.  It's going to look so nice and I love the color!  Here are some before pictures:

Sorry for the fugly pic.  Today was a no makeup, who gives a hoot kind of day.

Projects Galore!

I feel like I have ants in my pants.  I seriously don’t want to sit here thinking about all of my fun projects that lay ahead.  I want to be doing them.  Now that we know the little one moving around in my belly is a boy I know exactly what I want to do in the nursery.  Since I know what I want to do finally I want to get it started asap!!  Today I’m going to buy the paint and a few things I need for my other projects.  I’m thinking I will start painting his nursery this week and get that out of the way since it’s the least fun project.  Next will be my sewing projects.  I’m going to make burp clothes, boppy covers, pillows and curtains.  Maybe a few other things as well…  Depends on how good I am at this sewing business.  I borrowed my mother-in-law’s sewing machine since I don’t have one and didn’t want to purchase one in case I didn’t like sewing.  If I do end up really enjoying sewing I’ll buy my own at some point.  But for now I’m borrowing hers.  Last night I decided I better get acquainted with a sewing machine again since it has been like 10+ years since I’ve used one.  After a little struggling I finally got it down!  I forgot how easy sewing is!  Now that I’m comfortable with sewing I know the burp clothes will be a synch to make.  Another project I’ll be working on is my fabric hoops which will hang on the wall as decoration.  Here’s a picture (ignore the numbers):

I got this idea from a random lady’s blog as I was searching ideas for a nursery.  I’m in love with her nursery and I’m going to attempt to have my little man’s turn out similar to hers.  Anyways, back to the fabric hoops.  I need to find a bunch of different, fun, colorful fabrics first.  So hopefully I can get to Joann’s soon so I can start that project as well!  I have other projects in mind but we'll see how these go first.  Man I just can’t wait!  I bet my favorite parts of the nursery will be all of my home-made touches!

21 Weeks!

I'm now 21 weeks and Baby K is the size of a large banana or carrot.  I'm excited that I can now say Baby K is a boy!  This just makes things much more real.  Obviously it was real before since my belly is getting larger by the minute but something about knowing that there's a little boy in there makes things more real.  I cannot wait to meet him!

Baby K has been much more active and I can now say without a doubt that I feel him kicking and moving around in there.  His favorite time to be active during the day is at supper time.  My weekly email says that part of my baby's growth spurt at this point is likely because his stomach is now equipped to start absorbing energy-boosting nutrients from the amniotic fluid he's swallowing in there.

Now that we know Baby K is a boy I've started getting ideas on how to decorate his nursery.  I have a pretty good idea in mind of what I want and I'm excited to get going on it.  I'll probably buy the paint this week and start painting.  I could usually get a room that size painted in one day but I realize I don't have the energy to do what I used to be able to do so it might take me a few days to paint it.  Maybe I'll post pictures as I go along... or I'll wait until it's done to show you.  I haven't decided yet.  :)

Boy or Girl?

Yesterday was our 20 week ultrasound.  I was definitely beaming yesterday in anticipation of seeing Baby K and finding out the sex.  Phil was kind of nervous.  I took the afternoon off work so I could fully enjoy the experience.  I met Phil for lunch and then we headed to our appointment.  The doc explained what everything was in great detail and said that everything looked great.  Then he found baby’s butt and instantly I knew – Baby K is as BOY!  There was no mistaking the gender.  I seriously couldn’t believe I guessed wrong but I was so happy.  Baby K is very healthy and is measuring 3 days ahead of schedule.  He was moving around quite a bit and kept putting his hands by his face and was sucking his thumb.  Even though he kept moving around we still got a few good pictures of him.  I won’t be posting them but they sure are cute!  After we walked out of the appointment Phil says “that’s right!” with a big smirk on his face.  Haha why is it that men are so proud to: A. get their wives knocked up; and B. procreate a male?

I called my mom on the way home because I promised she would be the first to know.  She was very happy to hear that she is having a grandson and can’t wait to meet him.  I also called my brother.  I told him to guess if he was having a nephew or niece and of course he guesses nephew.  He was very excited to hear that it was a boy as well!  Then I told my Monday crew.  Or I should say I was planning on telling my Monday crew.  Phil decided to spoil the secret before everyone got there.  But at least all of the girls were there to hear the news.  It’s obvious that Phil is excited about having a boy!  We are both very happy and can’t wait to meet him!

20 Weeks!

I'm 20 weeks today!!!  Half-way done already!  I can't believe how fast this pregnancy is going.  Baby K is now the size of a cantaloupe/coconut.  If we're having a girl, her uterus is now fully formed and her ovaries are holding about seven million primitive eggs.  And if we're having a boy, his testicles have begun their descent from the abdomen to their ultimate destination — the scrotum.  I can't believe we will find out tomorrow whether there is a little boy in there or a little girl!!!!  Oh gosh I can't wait!

I've been feeling really good minus the heartburn that occurs on a daily basis.  I've also been getting charley horses in my calves and those hurt like a bitch!  I'm trying to go on more walks and get myself more active.  Hopefully that will help with the charley horses.

There's not much more to report this week.  Since my appointment is tomorrow I'll probably have to do a separate post to let you all know if Baby K's a boy or a girl!  I don't think I can hold out until next Sunday to tell you all!  Let's just hope Baby K cooperates and we can find out.  It makes me a little nervous that there is a chance the baby will be moving around too much or something and the doc just can't tell us.
