I love me some FLUFF!!

So lately I have been cloth diaper obsessed.  Like, seriously OBSESSED.  Phil told me to get a hobby… I bet he regrets that statement.  Hehehe.  I almost don’t want to admit that I’ve purchased 2 girly bumGenius 4.0s for future BabyK#2 in case it’s a girl.  :-/  I’m not even pregnant.  Oops…  BUT one of them was on sale because it was going to be discontinued.  So, whatev.  If I end up with another boy I can sell them for what I paid since they will be staying in the packaging until I know if BabyK#2 is a boy or girl.  ANYWAYS...

I recently purchased some 4.0s from a gal for real cheap because the Velcro was no good.  I took all the Velcro off and converted them to snaps.  I didn’t do too bad!  Obviously the more practice I get the better they’ll look.  During my lunch hour I set up shop at work.  :)

Another gal recently gave me 12 diapers that she was just going to throw away because the Velcro was bad.  There is nothing else wrong with them and she asked if I wanted them.  Um, YES!  So I have even more diapers to convert.  :)

I’m also excited to report that we finally seem to have a nighttime cloth that works for Remy! When we first started cloth when he was about 6 months old he would leak through everything we tried at night.  Not that we tried much but disposables seemed to work so we just stuck with them for nighttime only.  For the last few months he’s been waking up damp with disposables.  We’ve tried multiple brands and no luck.  So after research and asking other mommas on my cloth diaper sites for options that work for them we decided to try stuffing a 4.0 with a flip organic cotton nighttime & microfiber and WHALA!  Bullet proof.  We also purchased a bamboo fitted to try with a BG flip and tried that for the first time last night and he woke up dry once again!  I’m so excited that we finally found something that works.  I know you non-cd users won’t care but this is exciting to me.   Now he will have a cute toosh all day & night.  :)

Last but not least, we decided to switch to cloth wipes.  It’s been sooo annoying dealing with disposable wipes and cloth.  Cloth goes in the wet bag and then you have to separate wipes to throw them away.  Just one more step that I don’t care to deal with.  So 4 receiving blankets and a few hours later we have 27 cloth wipes.  We haven’t started yet because I still need to make my solution but I’ll be doing that tonight!  It will be so nice to just wipe and throw it in the diaper.  Plus it will help his toosh when he’s got a rash because disposables burn so bad.  Poor little guy screams and shakes really bad when he’s got a rash.  So sad. :(  Here's our cute wipes!  They won't stay cute for long... haha.

And I'll leave you with a cute toosh.  :)

Goodbye 2013, Hello 2014

And we say goodbye to 2013…

2013 was a good year for our little family.  We got to watch our little 3 month old bundle of joy grow into an amazing little toddler.  He amazes me every day and I couldn’t be more in love with him.

I got to experience my very first Mother’s Day.  It was spent at Como Zoo with my boys.

We took a small vacation as a family up north.  We stayed in a cabin off a river.  Phil unfortunately had to work on his grandma’s roof half of that vacation but at least it was spent in the beautiful woods in a beautiful cabin.

We also spent a weekend at my friend’s parent’s cabin.  There were 8 adults and 6 crazy kids – my “chosen” family.  :)

Me and two other lady friends went on a trip up north to visit our friend Sarah in Grand Marais.  Beautiful place!

I’m very much looking forward to 2014.  My little brother is getting married and I’m so excited for them!  Hopefully we can take some kind of a vacation and maybe even start growing another family member.  Looking forward to a great year!  :)

Here's another Pinterest project I found and I finally had some time over the Thanksgiving weekend to whip a few projects out.  Here's one of them:

I think it turned out real cute!  I was debating whether to spray paint the elephant but I decided against it for now.  Such a cute idea and only cost $1.00!  We had to make the hole pretty big because the part of his toothbrush you can't see is much wider....  Gosh I love Pinterest.  :)

We tried a new recipe over the weekend and it was so good I had to share.  Yes, another pinterest find.  You never know with those if they'll be good or not.  This one was a keeper!  I wasn't a big fan of the dipping sauce, I'd rather have ketchup (go figure to those who know me) but Phil really liked it.  Here's the recipe if you're interested!

Our Weekend

I haven’t blogged much so I thought I’d blog about my weekend, boring or not.

Saturday morning I took Remy to a pumpkin party at the Day Camp in Hudson.  There was a petting zoo, a bouncy house, lots of little things for kids to do and a pumpkin patch.  Remy wasn’t quite old enough to enjoy all the little fun games for the kids and wasn’t old enough for the bouncy house.  If it was only us there, we would have gone in and played.  But I think Remy would have freaked if I put him in there with all the other kids or he would have gotten hurt.  Next year…  Anyways, it was very, very windy and chilly but we still had fun getting out and about.  Rem loved the goats.  At first he was just whatev about them but then they licked his hands and he started giggling.  After wondering around Remy picked out his pumpkin, put his mark on it and we headed home.

Later that night we headed over to my brother’s house for a bon fire.  I told Phil on the way that I bet everyone is just hanging out in the shop and there’s no fire.  Was I right?  Yep.  Haha.  Do I know my brother or what?  Anyways, after a few minutes Remy warmed up and started running around the entire shop, trying to get into everything.  And there was lots of stuff that a toddler shouldn’t get into – chainsaws, weed whipers dangling from the shelves, metal scrapings, etc, etc etc.  So Phil followed him around everywhere.  There was another little girl there that was about 2 months older and they were flirting back and forth.  Pretty cute stuff!  But the difference between little girls and little boys is obvious.  Remy was more interested in getting dirty, getting into everything in sight and running around and she was a good little girl, hanging out right next to her parents and batting her eyelashes at everyone.

On Sunday, one of Phil’s friends brought over a car for Remy.  Her kids had outgrown it and she just wanted it gone.  So Remy has a new ride!  He’s not quite old enough and can’t reach the pedal.  But he loved sitting in it and pushin all the buttons.  Once he figures out how to get it moving on his own he’s never going to want to get out!  Just taking him out when it didn’t do anything cool made him throw a little temper tantrum!  It’s obviously “well used” but Remy will just love it.

Since it was sooo nice outside on Sunday I made the entire family go on a walk.  Yes, dogs in all.  I’ll never make that mistake again… 3 dogs and a stroller are no fun.  But it felt so good to be outside in the sunshine.  Those days are far and few between now.  Gotta take advantage while we can!

The one and only pine tree we have is the same size as Remy!

Grand Marais

Finally, I blog!  The weekend of October 4th two friends and I drove up to Grand Marais to visit our friend Sarah who moved up there a few years ago.  This was my first time visiting.  The thought of a road trip sounds fun at first but then after a few hours it gets old and you just want to be there.  But it was nice to chit-chat with my lady friends and relax.  But we missed our friend who couldn't come.  We got up there late Friday night so it was too dark to go explore.  Plus we were exhausted for sitting in the car for 5-6 hours.  So we just hung out and chit-chatted while we watched Sarah's roommates cook for 2 hours.  Yes, it took them almost that long to cook their food and they didn't eat until like 11:30 at night.  Crazy people.  ;)

Saturday morning we got up and went to go get some breakfast.  We stuffed our bellies full and started our hiking.  The first place we went was right in Grand Marais.  I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.  We watched the waves and walked to the lighthouse.

Next stop was Oberg Mountain.  This is when it rained the most and it was super windy.  But luckily it wasn’t so bad in the trees.  It was a BEAUTIFUL place!!  I'm sure it's even more beautiful when it's not super foggy and rainy.  It’s amazing how much beauty can be found in Minnesota!

After Oberg we were all cold and wet so we took a small break in the car and then went to Temperance.  Another beautiful place and the waves were humungous!  I wasn’t paying enough attention and one got me and soaked my tennis shoes.  Nothing better than soaking wet feet in 40 some degree weather!  Haha.  After that I was pretty much chilled to the bone and couldn’t warm up for the life of me.  After Temperance we headed back to our friend’s place and played some games with her roommates.

The next morning we got up and went to get “the world’s best donuts” (which were good but definitely not the best I’ve had) and then went in some shops downtown.  Then we headed home!  It was such a short trip and I wish we could have stayed longer BUT I also missed Remy so very much (give me a break, it was my first weekend away from him).  Now that I've been to Grand Marais I can't wait to go back and bring Phil and Remy.  :)  So much more to see!

On our way home we had to make a pit stop at my boss's wife's lodge to take a pic:

(And yes, all of the photos that I've posted are stolen from my friend Sarah and Jess.)
