Vent Day!

10:43 AM Posted In , , , Edit This 0 Comments »
Wednesday is Vent Day according to the Dave Ryan in the morning show.  Maybe I'll come up with a vent each Wednesday for you!  I'm sure that won't be too difficult.  ;)

Here is today's vent for Vent Day: I ordered fabric online from Joann’s about 2 ½ weeks ago and it says that all orders will ship within 2-3 business days.  Has my fabric shipped yet?  Nope.  Apparently the fabric I picked is on backorder until 7/7.  Seriously!  Frickin A.  Did they decide to tell me this information?  Nope, I had to get impatient enough to call and ask where the H it is.  I wanted to sew baby’s curtains over my vacation time next week and now I won’t have the fabric in time to do that.  Stupid.  Pisses me off!

What's on my mind

A. Last night I woke up around 3 am with the WORST pain in my left hip.  At first I thought I just laid on one side too long or laid on it wrong.  So I tried to turn over and oh my… ouchie momma!  Then I decided to get up and holy moses.  I’m assuming it was a Charlie horse in my hip but I have no idea.  It seemed to last forever but probably only lasted like 5 minutes.  Poor Phil was woken up by it.  I sure hope that doesn’t happen again.  It was worse than the Charlie horses in my calf and lasted longer too.

B. 7 more work days and then I have 5 days off in a row.  Amen to that!  I’m in need of a vacation from this joint!  Everyone needs to get away from time to time and I definitely do.  Phil and I were going to do something fun together but his stupid new boss denied his vacation request.  I mean seriously… there was no reason for her to deny his request.  So I don’t have any fun plans but there is a lot I need to get done so I’m sure I’ll use the time to get stuff done in Baby K’s room and around the house.  I also need to make an Ikea trip (again) so I’ll have plenty of stuff to do.  It will be a nice break from work before the baby comes.

C. I have less than 3 months until I get to meet Baby K.  Crazy!  This pregnancy is seriously flying by the seat of my pants.  I am pretty sure that he won’t be coming early but in case he does I’ll meet him in roughly 2 ½-3 months.  :)  I can’t wait!!!!!!

D. I want to give this baby a name.  I'm set on a name that we both really like and we will most likely be using.  However, my hubby thinks we need to wait and see if anything better comes along.  That's not how I roll.  I'm a planner.  I like to get shit done well before it's due.  I would like this baby to have a name so I can start calling him by his name now and there's one project in his nursery that I can't do until we decide on a name.  So, to be fair I told the hubby that I'll wait until the baby shower and by then I want us to decide on his name.  That gives him another month and a half to come up with anything different and gives me at least a month before he's here to have his name set.  I think that's a decent compromise.  Seriously... it's driving me nuts knowing we have an awesome name and just haven't 100% decided on it.

E. I miss my husband.  He was gone all weekend at his mom’s house helping her put on a new roof so I barely saw him.  But he came home a little early last night, around 7-7:30ish so we could spend a wee bit of time together before I went to bed.  That was a nice surprise.  I was feeling rather lonely yesterday.  He's been working rather hard this whole summer.  It's always one project after the other and we barely do anything together.  Lots of important projects to go...  :(

F. I have heartburn.  The pills the doc prescribed to me worked really good at first and I didn't get any heartburn.  Lately it's been creeping back up on me and seems to be getting worse and worse.  The pills do help because it's still not as bad as it was but it's getting worse again.  Poo...  Makes me wonder if my body is getting use to the pills and now they aren't working?  Who knows...  That's just my mind wondering off.

That is all for now.

27 Weeks!

Now to week 27.  This is my last week in the second trimester!  Man, this pregnancy is flying by!  It's time to trade in the old crown-to-rump measurement for a new head-to-toe standard.  Baby K is about fifteen inches long.  His weight is creeping up the charts as well, coming in at just over two pounds. Baby K may recognize my voice by now too. :)

Baby K is very active everyday.  Sometimes I feel him just moving around in there and other times I feel like he is kick boxing or something.  His movements don't hurt yet or feel uncomfortable so I still love feeling him moving around.  My weekly report says he's probably had the hiccups on and off but I haven't felt them yet.

I've had baby fever the last few days.  I just can't wait to meet him!  Of course I'm not ready.  I still have a ton of projects left and I don't have everything I need for him.  Plus I suppose he isn't quite ready to come out yet...  Guess I'll wait. :)

My back is my biggest complaint.  The chiropractor really helps but when I'm doing a lot of bending over it gets pretty bad.  But I can't stop living just because I'm pregnant.  I need to get things done around the house - back pain or no back pain.  I just make sure to take breaks when it starts to hurt bad.

Night time has gotten very uncomfortable.  Last night was particularly the worst.  It seems like any position is uncomfortable.  Every time I wake up something hurts - my hips, my back, my shoulders.  I'm not really sure what to do to make it better.  I might just have 3 more months of being very uncomfortable at night!

Cravings this week have been Chipotle (always a craving), ice cream (also always a favorite) and brownies with frosting.  Anything healthy?  Nope...

This week I finished Baby K's pillows.  I basically just made pillows for his room to add color and different fabrics.  I can now say that I'm no longer afraid of zippers!  I have mastered them!  It only took me until the last pillow to master them.  Oh well.  They are all cute if you don't look too closely at my zipper work.  Now that I know I can sew zipper pillows I want to start sewing pillows for the living room and bedroom!  But, no time for that.  Need to focus on my baby projects first!

I also hung all of the fabric hoops this week.  They look very very cute!  But I'm not going to show you yet...  You saw what they look like but you'll have to wait until I'm all finished with his room to see what they look like on the wall.  :)  I can't wait until his room is finished!  I'm hoping to have it done by the end of August.  Then I can spend September just waiting for the little guy to  make his appearance.

I know... this picture was not taken at a good angle.  But Phil is gone all day and I had to take it myself.  This is the best I could do.

26 Weeks!

Today I'm 26 weeks and Baby K is the size of a zucchini.  This week his eyes, which until now were developing under fused eyelids, start to open.  He can't see much in my belly of course.

I've been feeling pretty stressed out this week.  I know I have PLENTY of time to get everything done but I want it done now.  There is a ton of things to get done around the house.  I just keep telling myself that it will all get done and I don't need to stress about it.  But that didn't stop my meltdown this morning.  I'm also not sleeping all that great.  We have the AC on but it still feels hot as hell at night which makes it hard to fall asleep.  Luckily I only have to get up 2-3 times a night to pee.  Better than the 5 times a night it was.  I'm sure it will get worse again as I get larger.  I have also been swelling up a lot more.  My hands and feet seem to be swollen all the time now and get way worse when I get hot.  I can barely wear my wedding ring anymore and don't dare to wear it if I'm going to be outside when it's 75+ out.  Anyways... other than being stressed, tired and swollen things are going pretty good.  My appetite has definitely increased.  I feel like I'm constantly hungry.  I'm trying to eat more healthy foods when I get hungry since I eat so much now.  So more fruit, yogurt, veggies, etc. and less ice cream and fat.

Phil and I started our registries this week.  The baby shower invites should be in the mail by now so I thought we'd better get cracking on the registries.  We started at Target assuming that would be the easiest.  Registering for a baby when you've never had a baby before is quite overwhelming!  I don't stinking know what is necessary and what is not!  Good thing I have friends who have babies and can help me tweak the registry later.

Here is a sneak peak of the nursery all painted.  It would look so much better if I could paint the doors and the trim white.  But I don't want to do that for just one room in the house and I'm definitely not redoing the trim in the entire house.  So, it works. It looks better in person.

Here is the dresser I bought for Baby K to refinish myself.
Here's Baby K's dresser all painted!  I think it turned out great.  I love the navy blue.  It will help to man up his room a little.

Well, I think that's all the sneak peaks you will see of the nursery until it's complete.  There is still a lot to do but I'm slowly working on it.  This morning I put together his storage cube thinger that I bought from Ikea and Phil put together his crib.  All of the big furniture is finally put together and they are in their places.  Only small projects to go!  Many, many small projects... :)

25 Weeks!

Today I'm 25 weeks and Baby K is the size of a rutabaga. Baby K is still packing on the weight.  This week his tiny nostrils, which have been plugged up until now, are starting to open, and his vocal chords are getting ready to roar.

I had a doc appointment this week and all is good.  Baby K is healthy as a horse and his heartbeat was somewhere between 150-160.  He's always moving around in there at my appointments so I always get an "range".  Haha.  He seems to be getting more active and stronger everyday.  I just love feeling his little kicks!  I'm sure once it starts to hurt I won't be so in love with it.

I've been feeling quite large lately.  I know I have a long way to go but I feel large.  It's getting harder to roll over in bed or get off the couch or the floor.  Bending over is becoming a chore.  My major complaint is still heartburn.  At my doc appointment this week and I complained to the doc about it and he said he could prescribe me something for it.  The prescription is a godsend!  I take one in the morning and one with supper and I pretty much don't get any heartburn anymore.  Thank god!!!!  If I miss the pill at supper I wake up in the middle of the night with really bad heartburn.  So, no more skipping!

This has been yet another very busy week.  Every week consists of projects and more projects.  I wanted to get Baby K's dresser finished this weekend but that didn't happen.  Saturday I helped Phil stain our front deck and that took pretty much all day.  By the time we were done my back couldn't handle anything else.  Today I put two coats of paint on the dresser.  One more and it should be done!  Sorry but you'll have to wait until next weekend to see pictures.  I would have put the third coat on but like I said, my back has had enough this weekend.  I don't think I could get back up if I got back down on the floor.  Oh well, totally worth it.  One huge project, the deck, is now finished and the dresser is almost complete.  Only about a million other projects to go...

Front Deck Complete!!

We finally got a nice Saturday with zero percent chance of rain so Phil and I finally stained our front deck!  Phil has been working on stripping and sanding the deck for the last few weeks.  He finished earlier this week and every single day it has rained.  But today was perfect for staining!  I mean it was a little hot out but we dealt.  We stained the rails first because that's what would take the longest and it took us about 5-6 hours to finish.  After the railings my poor back couldn't handle it anymore and I had to quit.  I feel like I'm 100 years old right now because I can barely walk without wincing in pain.  But it was totally worth it.  Phil finished the rest which only took about 2 1/2 hours or so.  Very long day but it's finally done and looks fantastic!!!

What the deck looked like after sanding and ready for stain:

Railings done!

All finished (still wet)!!

Only one more deck to go...

24 Weeks!

I'm 24 weeks today and Baby K is now the size of an ear of corn!  Sweet corn is my absolute favorite summer food so that seems fitting. :)  Baby K is gaining weight steadily at a rate of six ounces per week.  Much of that weight comes from accumulating baby fat, as well as from growing organs, bones, and muscle.  He's packing on the pounds (well, technically ounces)!

I've been feeling ok.  My back has been bothering me a lot this week so I went to the chiropractor early.  That seemed to help.  I also continue to get charley horses in my calves.  Let me tell you, those suck big time!  It might be from a lack of water.  I'm not really sure.  I've also been feeling pretty tired lately and don't have a whole lot of energy.  I'm thinking it's because Baby K is on a growth spurt.  I've also been pretty moody this week.  One minute I'm happy, the next I want to rip your head off.

I am in full nesting mode still.  I have a million projects in my head that I want done asap but I just can't get them done fast enough.  Yes, I have PLENTY of time but I want it done now!  I just need to remember to do one project at a time and not to stress out about it because we have plenty of time to get everything done.

The nursery is all painted and looks great.  I would show you a picture but the husband still hasn't put the trim back on the windows.  Plus I'm refinishing the dresser in the nursery at the moment.  Phil and I put it together yesterday and I started to prime it.  The primer was so fumy and made me feel a little dizzy and I was very uneasy about priming while pregnant.  Of course the back of the can says "may cause birth defects".  Great.  Well, I really wasn't priming for that long so everything should be ok.  Phil and I ran to Home Depot today and bought a respirator so I could finish priming.  Pretty bad-ass I know...

I am proud to say that I did finish one of my projects this week!  The fabric hoops are all finished and look sooo cute!  I can't wait to hang them on the wall.

Holy Hell

Holy mood swings!  I feel sorry for everyone who must be around me right now.  Last night I was terrible.  I barked at Phil for no good reason.  I barked at the dogs for no good reason.  I even barked at inanimate objects for being stupid and annoying.  Don’t look at me the wrong way, don’t walk in front of me, don’t talk to me.  While I’m in this horrible mood I know I’m being stupid but can I control it?  Absolutely not.  I laid in bed last night hoping that in the morning I’ll be happy and chipper seeing as it will be Friday and I’ll only work a ½ day.  Was I?  Absolutely not.  Winston was scolded for no reason, I yelled at my clothes for being uncomfortable and my body for growing overnight, I yelled at the stupid dump truck who didn’t feel the need to use his blinker.  Now I’m annoyed at a certain someone who feels the need to clear her throat every 5 minutes.  Just f’ing shut up!  Man I’m crabby and my face breaking out, the hundred errands I have to run after work and the million and one projects that I have going on don’t help.  If you know what’s best for you you will just stay away…  you’ve been warned.
