Spoiled Rotten

I’ve been meaning to blog about my surprise date night with the hubs and totally forgot until now.  Well, partly forgot and partly haven’t had time.  So a few weeks ago I got home from work as normal.  Did my usual – got in my comfy pants immediately, took care of Rem’s diaps and got his bag ready for the next day, started his supper, then I went looking for Phil.  He was getting ready and told me I need to go get ready because we’re leaving.  I was like, wth, we’re leaving?  He said his mom was coming over to watch Rem while we went out for dinner.  Okayyyy… you’ve NEVER surprised me with dinner before and we’ve been together for 10 years!  So off we went to the Phoenix for a little date night.  Then we got back to the car to go home and he pulls a present out of the trunk.  A surprise present too!!!  Holy smokes was I feeling spoiled.  He bought me a tablet and said it was just because he loved me and wanted to do something nice for me and for all that I do.  Weird.  He’s bought me things randomly before but just little things like flowers, ice cream, etc.  Nothing like this!  So yes, the hubby spoiled me rotten.  Now I need to think of something to return the favor.  :)

Projects

I've been walking around the neighborhood a lot the last few weeks with Rem and I've noticed how everyone's yards look so great and ours looks not so great.  This has made me want to get our yard into shape!  Plus we will be having Remy's 1st birthday party (*tear*) in a few months and I don't want our yard to look like crap when everyone comes over.  So I've started my little projects and this one turned out great!  I just love the color.  I found this at a garage sale last year (I think) and it just needed a can of spray paint.  LOVE it!  :)

Up North

Our little family headed up north to Gordon for vacation, roofing and to visit family.  We stayed Saturday to Saturday and our car was jam packed.  Thank god we had a friend to watch the dogs because they definitely would not have fit in the car!  We rented a cabin with Phil's cousin, Willie and his wife Katie.  It was a gorgeous cabin on the river.  Fully stocked kitchen (minus food), stocked games, everything we could need.  There was a pool table and darts, etc.  We could have brought friends if we wanted and still been comfortable.  There were 3 bedrooms and a loft that had 4 beds and the couch turned into a bed as well.  Such a big place for the amount we paid!

The first day we got there Phil headed over to his grandmas to start working.  They spent Saturday cutting down trees that were taking over her roof while me, Rem and Katie headed to the grocery store to stock up on food for the week.  Phil and Willie ended up working on the roof a heck of a lot more than they planned.  So Sunday-Tuesday they were at their grandma's house all day long working.  So, Rem and I relaxed and enjoyed ourselves.  We mostly hung out at the cabin, went for lots of walks through the beautiful woods, went to the park on a lake, spent some time at grandmas watching the men work...

By Wednesday I was desperate to hang out with Phil.  So the boys took the day off even though they weren't done and we went to visit Phil's other grandma.  She turns 96 years old this week and she's so darn sharp and cute!  She just loved Remy!

After visiting Grandma Kasinskas we headed over to Phil's uncle's cabin to hang out with his aunts, uncles and cousins.  There was lots of babies!  It was so fun to finally meet them all.  Remy went for his first swim at his uncle's lake.  At first he wasn't sure about it but a few minutes later he didn't want to get out!  He just loved it!

Thursday - the 4th of July, the four of us headed to Madeline Island for a parade.  We left way too early to catch the ferry in time for the parade.  It was our first time on a ferry!  The parade was kind of lame but it was fun to see a new place and walk around the island.  After enough heat and sun we headed back to the cabin for a relaxing bon fire.

Friday it was back to work for the boys.  Huge bummer for everyone but gotta do what you gotta do.  The boys finished up just in time for supper.  Saturday we headed to Gordon for Good Neighbor Days.  There was a little flea market, good food and another parade.  We were supposed to stay through Sunday but Phil and I had had enough and missed our bed.  So, Saturday evening we packed up, went to visit both grandmas one more time and headed home.  God it feels good to be home!  We had a great time (even though Phil had to work a lot) and hopefully will go back every year for a long weekend.

Windex Does Wonders

While we were at the cabin silly me accidentally dropped a bottle of bright red nail polish onto the tile bathroom floor and it broke right in half and got all over the light colored tile and all over the carpet in the bedroom.  Of course I instantly panicked and tried to pick it up and scrub it best I could.  After a failed attempt to get it out I told Phil we weren’t going to get our security deposit back and that I’d be the one to pay for it.  So Phil took a scrub at it and borrowed some nail polish remover from his grandma with no avail.  My wonderful husband who never backs down from a challenge looked up ways to remove nail polish from tile and carpet and found a few people saying that Windex would take it out.  I wasn’t very optimistic about Windex getting it out but my god, it took the damn stain right out of the carpet and tile!  Windex works wonders.  :)  Who would have thunk it?
