Up North

Our little family headed up north to Gordon for vacation, roofing and to visit family.  We stayed Saturday to Saturday and our car was jam packed.  Thank god we had a friend to watch the dogs because they definitely would not have fit in the car!  We rented a cabin with Phil's cousin, Willie and his wife Katie.  It was a gorgeous cabin on the river.  Fully stocked kitchen (minus food), stocked games, everything we could need.  There was a pool table and darts, etc.  We could have brought friends if we wanted and still been comfortable.  There were 3 bedrooms and a loft that had 4 beds and the couch turned into a bed as well.  Such a big place for the amount we paid!

The first day we got there Phil headed over to his grandmas to start working.  They spent Saturday cutting down trees that were taking over her roof while me, Rem and Katie headed to the grocery store to stock up on food for the week.  Phil and Willie ended up working on the roof a heck of a lot more than they planned.  So Sunday-Tuesday they were at their grandma's house all day long working.  So, Rem and I relaxed and enjoyed ourselves.  We mostly hung out at the cabin, went for lots of walks through the beautiful woods, went to the park on a lake, spent some time at grandmas watching the men work...

By Wednesday I was desperate to hang out with Phil.  So the boys took the day off even though they weren't done and we went to visit Phil's other grandma.  She turns 96 years old this week and she's so darn sharp and cute!  She just loved Remy!

After visiting Grandma Kasinskas we headed over to Phil's uncle's cabin to hang out with his aunts, uncles and cousins.  There was lots of babies!  It was so fun to finally meet them all.  Remy went for his first swim at his uncle's lake.  At first he wasn't sure about it but a few minutes later he didn't want to get out!  He just loved it!

Thursday - the 4th of July, the four of us headed to Madeline Island for a parade.  We left way too early to catch the ferry in time for the parade.  It was our first time on a ferry!  The parade was kind of lame but it was fun to see a new place and walk around the island.  After enough heat and sun we headed back to the cabin for a relaxing bon fire.

Friday it was back to work for the boys.  Huge bummer for everyone but gotta do what you gotta do.  The boys finished up just in time for supper.  Saturday we headed to Gordon for Good Neighbor Days.  There was a little flea market, good food and another parade.  We were supposed to stay through Sunday but Phil and I had had enough and missed our bed.  So, Saturday evening we packed up, went to visit both grandmas one more time and headed home.  God it feels good to be home!  We had a great time (even though Phil had to work a lot) and hopefully will go back every year for a long weekend.
