What's on my mind

A. Last night I woke up around 3 am with the WORST pain in my left hip.  At first I thought I just laid on one side too long or laid on it wrong.  So I tried to turn over and oh my… ouchie momma!  Then I decided to get up and holy moses.  I’m assuming it was a Charlie horse in my hip but I have no idea.  It seemed to last forever but probably only lasted like 5 minutes.  Poor Phil was woken up by it.  I sure hope that doesn’t happen again.  It was worse than the Charlie horses in my calf and lasted longer too.

B. 7 more work days and then I have 5 days off in a row.  Amen to that!  I’m in need of a vacation from this joint!  Everyone needs to get away from time to time and I definitely do.  Phil and I were going to do something fun together but his stupid new boss denied his vacation request.  I mean seriously… there was no reason for her to deny his request.  So I don’t have any fun plans but there is a lot I need to get done so I’m sure I’ll use the time to get stuff done in Baby K’s room and around the house.  I also need to make an Ikea trip (again) so I’ll have plenty of stuff to do.  It will be a nice break from work before the baby comes.

C. I have less than 3 months until I get to meet Baby K.  Crazy!  This pregnancy is seriously flying by the seat of my pants.  I am pretty sure that he won’t be coming early but in case he does I’ll meet him in roughly 2 ½-3 months.  :)  I can’t wait!!!!!!

D. I want to give this baby a name.  I'm set on a name that we both really like and we will most likely be using.  However, my hubby thinks we need to wait and see if anything better comes along.  That's not how I roll.  I'm a planner.  I like to get shit done well before it's due.  I would like this baby to have a name so I can start calling him by his name now and there's one project in his nursery that I can't do until we decide on a name.  So, to be fair I told the hubby that I'll wait until the baby shower and by then I want us to decide on his name.  That gives him another month and a half to come up with anything different and gives me at least a month before he's here to have his name set.  I think that's a decent compromise.  Seriously... it's driving me nuts knowing we have an awesome name and just haven't 100% decided on it.

E. I miss my husband.  He was gone all weekend at his mom’s house helping her put on a new roof so I barely saw him.  But he came home a little early last night, around 7-7:30ish so we could spend a wee bit of time together before I went to bed.  That was a nice surprise.  I was feeling rather lonely yesterday.  He's been working rather hard this whole summer.  It's always one project after the other and we barely do anything together.  Lots of important projects to go...  :(

F. I have heartburn.  The pills the doc prescribed to me worked really good at first and I didn't get any heartburn.  Lately it's been creeping back up on me and seems to be getting worse and worse.  The pills do help because it's still not as bad as it was but it's getting worse again.  Poo...  Makes me wonder if my body is getting use to the pills and now they aren't working?  Who knows...  That's just my mind wondering off.

That is all for now.

The good and the bad of 2009

I want to start off with the very end of 2008 because it was so wonderful and it feels like it was part of this year!

In the beginning of December, 2008 Phil and I went to the US Virgin Islands to be a part of my very good friends wedding. We had a wonderful time and I wish I was there in the sun right now.

After the trip we celebrated Christmas and New Years with friends and family.

2009 started off on a very good note. I got a promotion at work (yay!). I went from being a receptionist at a law firm to being a paralegal.

Other than that I just spend lots of time with family and friends.

I made many trips up to the Brainerd area to visit my mom, sister, aunts and other family. The drive is never fun but it is always worth it.

There were some nice trips over to my dad’s shop to hang out with him while I changed the oil in my car and gave it a bath.

My friends and I continued our Monday nights and we had our annual weekend at the cabin. We also had a ladies night in Minneapolis and many more nights out at the bars/clubs.

Phil and I started a Friday night date night, which we don’t get to every single weekend, but most. Phil and I also started our hunt for a house! We haven’t found anything we want to buy yet but we are in the process of it and hopefully in 2010 we will find the one.

A few really good movies came out. The best were Transformers, Revenge of the Fallen & New Moon.

My friend Jewells and I went to two Coldplay concerts!

For my birthday in October I got a new tattoo, which I love.

December 5, 2009 my dad passed away.

2009 started off pretty good and was a somewhat good year and then December came and it was ruined. This horrible event will mark 2009 as the worst year of my life. I can only hope that in 2010 things get easier and start to turn around.

I should be working...

Right now I am sitting at my desk, scanning in old estate planning files. Not fun. This means scanning in people’s wills, family trusts, power of attorneys, real estate crap, etc. It is pretty boring but it needs to be done. We had started with 8 boxes to scan and destroy. Jewells (my friend/co-worker who is helping me) and I are now down to about 2 boxes left. I just felt the need to take a small break from scanning and saving and write a little blog, even though I don’t have much to say.

This weekend my work is having its “fall outing”. We are going to the Osceola St. Croix Valley Railway and having dinner on a train. It sounds like fun and hopefully it will be. Phil will be meeting all of my work people for the first time. Last year they went on a boat and had a “comedy cruise” and I couldn’t make it. :( Other than the fall outing for work, I really have nothing else going on! I plan on sitting on my butt a lot, reading my book, doing a little organizing, maybe attempting to organize my music (that’s a big maybe), wash my car, go through and put away my summer clothes and get my winter clothes out (I can’t believe its that time already), and do anything else that floats my boat. It’s quite nice not having any homework. It takes up quite a bit of my weekends. I feel like I should be doing something…. but there is nothing to do but enjoy my break. :)

Work, homework, work, homework

I spend roughly 10-12 hours a DAY on the computer Monday through Friday. Then, I spend an additional 5-8 hours on the computer on the weekend. The only breaks I really get are in the morning when I wake up until the time I go to work, then my ½ hour lunch, then my drive home, and then I usually quit homework around 8 or 8:30. By the end of the day I am exhausted. Let me tell you how excited I am to be done with school. I can’t even tell you how relieved I will be when I am done. I have 2.5 quarters to go after this week. That is… 7 more months. Can I make it? Shoot me now! Actually, this is the last hard quarter. Next quarter I only have 2 classes and then the last quarter I have 1 real class and 1 that doesn’t really count as a real class because it is more like an internship and there aren’t very many assignments. I guess just felt the need to complain to you all and get it off my chest. I think I have done pretty good about not complaining about school up until this point. I have come to the point where I just need to be done. I can definitely say that I will not take free time for granted after I’m done with school and will finally have an abundance of it. I’ll have time to watch more TV, take more walks, read a book, and start re-watching all seasons of Gilmore Girls and some of my other favorite TV shows. Oh I cannot wait!

On a lighter note, I had a fabulous weekend (minus Sunday because I had to leave real early that morning because I had 5 hours of homework waiting for me at home). I got to spend the weekend with my favorite people. We stayed at my friend Rachel’s cabin Friday-Sunday morning. There were 9 of us and 8 dogs. Having 8 dogs was actually less chaotic than I thought it was going to be. We spent all of our time relaxing, playing games, and sitting by the camp fire. The weather wasn’t completely on our side so we didn’t get to go swimming or anything but it was still nice enough to go out on the pontoon and be outside. I would show you photos but I didn’t take any. I’m sure Jewells took a million so maybe she will share some with me. :-)

Tonight we hang out at my house and I hope my friends are ready for some frozen pizza because that is all I have to offer. I’m hoping this weekend I will be able to stay home so we can go do some heavy duty grocery shopping. If not, we are in trouble because we will starve.

It has been a long time since I wrote my last real blog and I decided to start the New Year off with a good one. Well, at least a long one. Let’s just start by telling you all what I’ve been up to lately. Ever since I got back from vacation/wedding things have calmed down quite a bit, even with Christmas going on. My weekends are now mostly open and I have time to do things around the house and relax. Work has been great since we’ve been closed so much due to Christmas and New Years. I haven’t had a full work week since… well, the last week in November! After New Years is over, it is back to reality!

Christmas was pretty good this year. I managed to fit all of my family and some of Phil’s family in. On Christmas Eve, Phil and I went over to my Dad’s house and had a nice dinner with my two brothers, Dad, and skank (Dolly). After dinner we opened presents. My Dad got me a whole bunch of meat! I got tons of hamburger, roasts, pork chops, and bacon. Yum Yum! After my Dad’s house, Phil and I went home and opened presents with the pups. Phil got me a new stereo for my car and all the things that go with it. Now I can finally play my Zune!! I got him a Zune! He has been jealous of mine since he bought me one last year so he loved it. I also got him a bunch of little stuff for his stocking. Phil didn’t try very hard this year on my stocking. He didn’t really get anything for it. :( Oh well, there is always next year!

On Christmas Day, Phil and I went over to his Mom’s house and had some lunch with her. I left a little later to go over to my Uncle’s house to celebrate Christmas with my Dad’s side and Phil stayed at his Moms so she wouldn’t be alone on Christmas. This was the first year she didn’t have Christmas at her house and the first year that her daughters couldn’t come because they live in Portland, OR now.

The day after Christmas my brothers came and picked me up in the morning and we headed over to the Brainerd area where my Mom’s side of the family is. That was the best part of Christmas for me. I LOVE my Mom’s side of the family. I also got to spend a full day with Jackilynn, my little sister. She is going to be one year old in January! She is getting so big!

New Years Eve (which is today) I’m going over to my friend Jessie’s house and we will be cooking a lovely meal with all my friends. Afterwards we will be playing games and drinking beer! This year I have decided to make a New Years resolution. I don’t usually make one but I’ve been thinking lately that it would be nice to drop the caffeine and why not start now?! I know the next couple weeks are going to be pretty tough but after that I’m hoping to feel much better. I don’t drink much caffeine but it is enough to make me have a headache if I don’t have it.

After the New Year I will be starting college again. The first quarter I only have two classes. I wanted to take four but they only allowed me to take two since I have to take these two classes before I can start any of the rest. I should be done with my degree by December of 2009! Only a year! After I’m done with college I will either stay where I am and become a paralegal, or if they don’t have the position open I will look for a position at a different office. Part of me wants to stay where I am because I know and like everyone here. Either way, I will be making much more money than I am now. :) I will pay off some bills and then start saving for a house. I’m hoping that within a year after I get a new job as a paralegal, I’ll be able to afford a house. I’ve been looking forward to buying a house for many years now!!! My dogs love it when we go to other people’s house’s because they can run and play outside. They can’t at my tiny duplex since I have a tiny, tiny yard and the road is about 15 feet from my place. Poo on that. Lately I have also really, really wanted my golden retriever. I’m waiting to get one until I have a house. We don’t want a big dog in our duplex because it wouldn’t be fair to them. Same with our cat Isabelle. She is staying at her Grandma’s house because she likes to go outside. Someday though I will have my house, my kitty and my new dog! Someday….

Here is my future puppy. Aren't they cute!! I want one that is more red though. I'm not sure what I'll name him yet!
Jackilynn had more fun playing with ribbons and wrapping paper than her new toys.

Here is my brother, my mom, and Jackilynn.

Me and my little sister!! I adore her! Too bad I only see her once a month, if I'm lucky.

long day

Today has been very irritating... I have a million things to do and not enough time to do them in. On my lunch I called my school for the hundredth time to get my financial aid crap figured out and guess what, they were not available! What a frickin' surprise there! So, I left a message and hopefully they will call me back tonight because I need to get this all taken care of before I leave on Wednesday. After that phone call I had to call the airport, which I dread. I actually didn't have to stay on hold for very long until I got a real person! I asked her to change my flight schedule so I could be on the same flight as Jewells and we went through the whole process and when we got to the end of it we got disconnected. Cool. The process took me about 20 minutes and it was all wasted. So I call back and of course I get a totally different person who has no idea what I need and I have to explain my situation AGAIN! All is good though because she got our flights changed and we can now stick with Jewells and Max. :) I guess 40 minutes of talking to people with heavy accents was worth it in the end... We will not be getting to our destination 2 hours earlier. :) yay!

I also decided to call Phil on my lunch and turns out he is having a pretty rotten day as well. He found out that his 91 year old grandma has to get her leg amputated. The doctors are not going to put her down for this because she may not wake up due to her age. :( The whole thing apparently is very risky anyways and she may not make it. :(:( I really like his granny too. She so sweet and she is always bugging me and Phil to get married and make some babies. I hope all goes good with her surgery! Phil and I might drive up to see her tomorrow if we can but it is a 3 hour drive.

This day is never ending.... I have four days off after today for Thanksgiving and I'm excited so it is taking FOREVER. I'm really excited for the day after Thanksgiving shopping!!! I hope I find everything I'm looking for. I want to get Phil's birthday present done and his x-mas present done. And them maybe find some things for myself of course! :)

I suppose I should get back to work now. 1 hour, 15 minutes to go.....

life...

Life is complicated. That is one thing I know to be true! When I think about the future my mind goes a million miles per hour. There are so many things that I want to do and accomplish. One major thing on my mind right now is MONEY! That is probably one of the top 5 things on everyones mind isn't it! I don't feel like I need to be rich to have happiness or anything but I wish that I could feel secure and not have to worry month to month about paying the bills! I want to be able to buy a house within a year and I don't think that can happen with my budget and my income. The longer I can't afford a house, the longer I am going to waste my money away on rent! I don't think I can get a better job right now unless I go back to school OR I wait it out at my job and hope to get a promotion. That is a tough choice that I don't know how to make. What should I do? Should I spend a ton of money and go back to college and get a degree as a paralegal? OR should I work for a couple years where I am at and hope to get a promotion from a receptionist to a paralegal? The second choice would be a gamble but I know it can be done if I work hard and someone else quits. "sigh" I've been going back and forth on that for a while and still don't know what to do...
