Things to Look Forward To

11:13 AM Posted In , , , , , , Edit This 0 Comments »
Lately what’s been on my mind are all the things I’m looking forward to once I’m no longer pregnant.  The obvious and most important is meeting my little man and becoming a mother.  I can’t stop thinking about what he’s going to look like.  I already love him to pieces.

Besides Baby K and becoming a mother I’m so looking forward to sleeping on my stomach and back again.  Oh that would be so nice!!!  The things you take for granted.

I’m also looking forward to sleeping without hip pain.  My poor hips are to the point where they hurt constantly – especially when laying in bed.  So trying to get comfortable at night is a chore.

I’m also looking forward to bending over like normal people.  Depending on how he is situated in my belly sometimes I can’t even bend over all the way.  It will be so nice to be able to pick things up easily again!

I’m looking forward to wearing my wedding ring again!!!  I haven’t been able to wear it since late June if I remember correctly because my fingers are so swollen.  I thought my fingers were fat before but now…  I can barely even get my hubby’s ring on my finger.  We tried the other day and it fits but it fits real tight.  That’s pretty bad.

I’m also looking forward to no more Charlie horses in the middle of the night (this morning’s was a bad one).  I never used to get Charlie horses until I got pregnant.  So I would assume they would go away after I give birth.

I’m looking forward to having a Bud Light Lime.  Oh yum!  It’s not like I want to get wasted or anything but having a beer or two whenever I want would be so nice!

I’m looking forward to wearing normal shoes again and even heels!  My feet are so swollen that I can only wear flip flops.  I can’t even squeeze my feet into my slippers!  One of my favorite things about fall and winter is that I get to wear socks and shoes.  Nothing feels better than putting on a fresh pair of socks!  Baby K will come just in time for that!

I’m looking forward to having clothes that fit me.  While I completely understand that my body is not going to just go back to normal, it will be much easier to find clothes that fit being chubby rather than pregnant.  Towards the end of this pregnancy it has been rather difficult to find clothes that fit.  Most of my shirts fit everywhere except they aren’t long enough because the bottom of my belly pops out.  I’d rather not walk around with my belly hanging out unless I’m at home.  So, my options are limited.  You would think that they would make these maternity shirts extra long for this reason.  It’s funny because I have a very short torso and usually have the problem of my shirts being too long!

I’m most definitely looking forward to having the constant heartburn go bye-bye.  Waking up at 1:00 a.m. with the worst heartburn is NOT fun.

I’m looking forward to not having a kick to the ribs or a punch to the bladder.  Those punches to the bladder are the worst!!  I will probably miss him moving around in there when he’s not causing any pain or when he has the hiccups but those painful jabs I sure won’t miss.

So many things to look forward to!  Less than one month to go!

Vent Day!

Wednesday is Vent Day according to the Dave Ryan in the morning show.  Maybe I'll come up with a vent each Wednesday for you!  I'm sure that won't be too difficult.  ;)

Here is today's vent for Vent Day: I ordered fabric online from Joann’s about 2 ½ weeks ago and it says that all orders will ship within 2-3 business days.  Has my fabric shipped yet?  Nope.  Apparently the fabric I picked is on backorder until 7/7.  Seriously!  Frickin A.  Did they decide to tell me this information?  Nope, I had to get impatient enough to call and ask where the H it is.  I wanted to sew baby’s curtains over my vacation time next week and now I won’t have the fabric in time to do that.  Stupid.  Pisses me off!

What's on my mind

A. Last night I woke up around 3 am with the WORST pain in my left hip.  At first I thought I just laid on one side too long or laid on it wrong.  So I tried to turn over and oh my… ouchie momma!  Then I decided to get up and holy moses.  I’m assuming it was a Charlie horse in my hip but I have no idea.  It seemed to last forever but probably only lasted like 5 minutes.  Poor Phil was woken up by it.  I sure hope that doesn’t happen again.  It was worse than the Charlie horses in my calf and lasted longer too.

B. 7 more work days and then I have 5 days off in a row.  Amen to that!  I’m in need of a vacation from this joint!  Everyone needs to get away from time to time and I definitely do.  Phil and I were going to do something fun together but his stupid new boss denied his vacation request.  I mean seriously… there was no reason for her to deny his request.  So I don’t have any fun plans but there is a lot I need to get done so I’m sure I’ll use the time to get stuff done in Baby K’s room and around the house.  I also need to make an Ikea trip (again) so I’ll have plenty of stuff to do.  It will be a nice break from work before the baby comes.

C. I have less than 3 months until I get to meet Baby K.  Crazy!  This pregnancy is seriously flying by the seat of my pants.  I am pretty sure that he won’t be coming early but in case he does I’ll meet him in roughly 2 ½-3 months.  :)  I can’t wait!!!!!!

D. I want to give this baby a name.  I'm set on a name that we both really like and we will most likely be using.  However, my hubby thinks we need to wait and see if anything better comes along.  That's not how I roll.  I'm a planner.  I like to get shit done well before it's due.  I would like this baby to have a name so I can start calling him by his name now and there's one project in his nursery that I can't do until we decide on a name.  So, to be fair I told the hubby that I'll wait until the baby shower and by then I want us to decide on his name.  That gives him another month and a half to come up with anything different and gives me at least a month before he's here to have his name set.  I think that's a decent compromise.  Seriously... it's driving me nuts knowing we have an awesome name and just haven't 100% decided on it.

E. I miss my husband.  He was gone all weekend at his mom’s house helping her put on a new roof so I barely saw him.  But he came home a little early last night, around 7-7:30ish so we could spend a wee bit of time together before I went to bed.  That was a nice surprise.  I was feeling rather lonely yesterday.  He's been working rather hard this whole summer.  It's always one project after the other and we barely do anything together.  Lots of important projects to go...  :(

F. I have heartburn.  The pills the doc prescribed to me worked really good at first and I didn't get any heartburn.  Lately it's been creeping back up on me and seems to be getting worse and worse.  The pills do help because it's still not as bad as it was but it's getting worse again.  Poo...  Makes me wonder if my body is getting use to the pills and now they aren't working?  Who knows...  That's just my mind wondering off.

That is all for now.

Another Random Bullet Day

·         Victoria’s Secret – you can stop emailing me deals on underwear, swim suits and lingerie every single freaking day.  Do you realize you’re hurting my self esteem?  I’m 22 weeks pregnant and can no longer fit into your skimpy outfits and might never fit into them again.   I would appreciate it if you would stop emailing me.
·         Husband – seriously you need to buy more pants and work shirts.  You can’t just wear the same work shirt and jeans Tuesday-Saturday and not wash them.  There is a reason those clothes were in the hamper this morning and when I try to get you to wear something else you refuse.  Gross, enough said.
·         Baby K – I just love you.  Yesterday was the first day I felt you kick me from the outside and my heart just melted.  I was hoping you’d be active when I got home so your daddy could feel you and luckily you were!  Your daddy kind of jumped a little and said it was creepy.  But creepy in a good way. :)  He loves you too and wishes you were here already.  It’s amazing how one day you’re just not strong enough and the next day you’re so strong!!  You must have had a growth spurt over night which is probably why I’m so freaking tired lately!
·         Wardrobe – One day you fit me the next day you don’t.  My options are getting very limited these days and I’m not used to that.  I like to go home and get comfy right away by grabbing a t-shirt and comfy pants and my options for t-shirts are slim to none.  I might have to start wearing the husband’s small t-shirts soon…
·         Cravings – This insane craving for ice cream needs to go away before the love handles get bigger and my thighs and ass make my pants rip.  I could seriously eat ice cream for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Skip the meal, just give me dessert.  The weight is starting to show and I just made it past the half way mark.  Please please go away craving of mine.  It’s summer now and it’s not like I can cover up like I could in the winter.
·         Weather – please don’t rain on my parade all weekend long.  My mom is coming to visit and help me work on the flower bed.  Out of all my projects this is the one bothering me the most.  Our yard is hideous and my mom can do wonders with a flower bed.  Please don’t rain us out.  You have no idea how much this is bothering me!!!
·         That is all for now.

Projects Galore!

I feel like I have ants in my pants.  I seriously don’t want to sit here thinking about all of my fun projects that lay ahead.  I want to be doing them.  Now that we know the little one moving around in my belly is a boy I know exactly what I want to do in the nursery.  Since I know what I want to do finally I want to get it started asap!!  Today I’m going to buy the paint and a few things I need for my other projects.  I’m thinking I will start painting his nursery this week and get that out of the way since it’s the least fun project.  Next will be my sewing projects.  I’m going to make burp clothes, boppy covers, pillows and curtains.  Maybe a few other things as well…  Depends on how good I am at this sewing business.  I borrowed my mother-in-law’s sewing machine since I don’t have one and didn’t want to purchase one in case I didn’t like sewing.  If I do end up really enjoying sewing I’ll buy my own at some point.  But for now I’m borrowing hers.  Last night I decided I better get acquainted with a sewing machine again since it has been like 10+ years since I’ve used one.  After a little struggling I finally got it down!  I forgot how easy sewing is!  Now that I’m comfortable with sewing I know the burp clothes will be a synch to make.  Another project I’ll be working on is my fabric hoops which will hang on the wall as decoration.  Here’s a picture (ignore the numbers):

I got this idea from a random lady’s blog as I was searching ideas for a nursery.  I’m in love with her nursery and I’m going to attempt to have my little man’s turn out similar to hers.  Anyways, back to the fabric hoops.  I need to find a bunch of different, fun, colorful fabrics first.  So hopefully I can get to Joann’s soon so I can start that project as well!  I have other projects in mind but we'll see how these go first.  Man I just can’t wait!  I bet my favorite parts of the nursery will be all of my home-made touches!

Boy or Girl?

Yesterday was our 20 week ultrasound.  I was definitely beaming yesterday in anticipation of seeing Baby K and finding out the sex.  Phil was kind of nervous.  I took the afternoon off work so I could fully enjoy the experience.  I met Phil for lunch and then we headed to our appointment.  The doc explained what everything was in great detail and said that everything looked great.  Then he found baby’s butt and instantly I knew – Baby K is as BOY!  There was no mistaking the gender.  I seriously couldn’t believe I guessed wrong but I was so happy.  Baby K is very healthy and is measuring 3 days ahead of schedule.  He was moving around quite a bit and kept putting his hands by his face and was sucking his thumb.  Even though he kept moving around we still got a few good pictures of him.  I won’t be posting them but they sure are cute!  After we walked out of the appointment Phil says “that’s right!” with a big smirk on his face.  Haha why is it that men are so proud to: A. get their wives knocked up; and B. procreate a male?

I called my mom on the way home because I promised she would be the first to know.  She was very happy to hear that she is having a grandson and can’t wait to meet him.  I also called my brother.  I told him to guess if he was having a nephew or niece and of course he guesses nephew.  He was very excited to hear that it was a boy as well!  Then I told my Monday crew.  Or I should say I was planning on telling my Monday crew.  Phil decided to spoil the secret before everyone got there.  But at least all of the girls were there to hear the news.  It’s obvious that Phil is excited about having a boy!  We are both very happy and can’t wait to meet him!

10 Weeks!

Today my little bean is 10 weeks old! He's no longer a little bean and is now the size of a grape or a prune (depending on what website you look at). I'll still call him my little bean. :) My week by week development website says that his bones and cartilage are forming, and small indentations on the legs are developing into knees and ankles. His arms (complete with elbows) can flex already. His stomach is producing digestive juices, the kidneys are producing larger quantities of urine, and, if he's a boy, he's already producing testosterone!

I've been feeling a little better in the morning sickness department. It still comes and goes but a lot less than before. I'm still extremely tired all the time but this little bean is well worth all the morning sickness and exhaustion. On Wednesday I have my very first doctor appointment and I cannot wait!!! It has been extremely hard waiting this long. I will feel much better when I hear the doc tell me everything is a-ok!

I have news...

Alright, so you want to know the real reason why I haven’t been blogging much? Well, it’s because… I’m pregnant! Yes – 9 weeks today. :) Phil and I are very excited! This will be our first baby and s/he is due September 23rd (one week after our first anniversary). Well, pretty close to that date. I haven’t been to the doctor yet so I don’t have a date from him but I’m assuming I’m right on or within a day or two. I guess lots of doctors don’t want to see you until you are about 10 weeks. So, I have an appointment scheduled at the end of the month and I’m very excited. The first few weeks of the pregnancy was easy-peasy but once I hit 6 ½ weeks I started to get morning sickness. Some days are worse than other and I feel nauseous all day long and others I feel ok with a little nausea on and off. Almost all food sounds gross so it’s really hard to find something to eat. I’ve come to realize that I need to eat before I even get out of bed, I need a snack about an hour later and I basically need to snack all day long. I can’t let myself get hungry or too full otherwise the nausea hits pretty bad. I cannot wait until this part is done! And I also can’t wait until food sounds good again. I used to love eating and now I hate hate hate it. I don’t even want ice cream. Crazy talk. So, there’s my news. :) Hopefully I’ll be blogging a bit more now that I can talk about what’s going on in my life. Here’s my 8 week belly picture. Not a very attractive picture but I’m already popped out a tiny bit!

Today marks 9 weeks so here is my 9 week picture too. Definitely popped out more since 8 weeks.
