Projects

I've been walking around the neighborhood a lot the last few weeks with Rem and I've noticed how everyone's yards look so great and ours looks not so great.  This has made me want to get our yard into shape!  Plus we will be having Remy's 1st birthday party (*tear*) in a few months and I don't want our yard to look like crap when everyone comes over.  So I've started my little projects and this one turned out great!  I just love the color.  I found this at a garage sale last year (I think) and it just needed a can of spray paint.  LOVE it!  :)

Flower Bed

I just wanted to show you all our hard work!  Back when my mom was here at the end of May she helped Phil and I with our flower bed.  We definitely did not get it all finished but we finished the front of the house and one side of the garage.  We started with the part of the house that people would see the most.  Since then I've done a tiny bit more (would have done even more but it's too damn hot out for this pregnant gal) and I've planted annuals in all of the pots.  Let me tell you, I'm no gardener but I'm very proud of what's done and I can't wait to finish the rest!  It feels good to accomplish projects like this around the house!

This is basically what it looked like before we started and this is where we stopped.

Yikes!  Nothing but weeds!

This is what it looks like after all the weeds are gone!

This & That Over the Weekend

This weekend was fabulous! Phil and I got a lot of wedding stuff done, yard work done and actually had time for some fun too! For our date night on Friday we went and saw Transformers: Dark of the Moon in 3D. The movie was just ok. I definitely enjoyed it but I would have to rank it as my least favorite out of the three.

Saturday we went tubing down the Apple River with a bunch of friends and then had a bbq afterwards. It was nice to get outside and do something fun for the first time this summer!

Sunday Phil and I spent a lot of the day working on the yard. We finally got all the shitty pebble rock is gone from our walkway!! It only took us a week to get it all out of there. Now we just need to till it up, put a pathway in and put down some grass seed. Sounds easy enough…

Yesterday Phil and I took an extra day off work to run errands and get stuff done. Our first stop was Menards to order our deck. After some bickering on the design, we finally got it ordered and it will be delivered on Thursday! I’m quite excited! Hopefully we can get it all built by the end of this month (as long as my awesome friends are still willing to help *wink wink). After Menards we ran to Woodbury to pick out Phil’s ring at the Shane Co., which we bought and then went to Savvi Formalwear to pick out the tuxs for the wedding. I thought I wanted to do suits but that didn’t work out. I guess they would have to buy their suits and that would be more expensive. So, we went with the tuxs but minus the vest and pocket thinger. They are going to look so spiffy!! Once we got home I finished up our wedding website and finished tweaking our Target registry. Hopefully we have enough stuff on there since we didn’t register anywhere else. Our wedding is only 72 days away! I’m sure Josh and Max would like that.

Now after a 4 and 1/2 days off work I'm back to work. :( Little vacations just aren't long enough..

Yard work

Over the weekend I went to the farm and started on the garden (the background of our wedding ceremony). I got there a little before 9 a.m. and shortly after me, my Aunt Laura showed up to help. We started pulling weeds and wishing my brother would wake up so he could come out and pull all the trees. Not too long after we started he came out, got the skid steer and we pulled all the “weed” trees out. The only picture I will show you at this point is most of the trees we pulled - and this isn’t all of them.

I don’t want to give away the surprise until the project is done! So, Justen pulled all the bigger trees and then had to leave. Pretty soon after he left my wonderful friends Josh and Loin showed up to help. Josh shoveled up the rest of the small trees for me and the rest of us pulled plants out of the ground and weeded the entire garden. After 5 hours of work and a nice burn line, I decided to call it quits for the day. The hard part is now done and it should be much easier to finish the project. I can't wait until it's done and I can see how much better it looks.

After all the yard work on Saturday Phil and I started our yard work at home. I mowed our grass for the first time (and the first time in my life!). So I developed a burn on top of my burn from the day before. After the yard work I ran to Hudson to get groceries and some suntan lotion so next time I won't burn. ;) But it's all good, when I woke up this morning most of my burn had already turned into a tan! My first tan of the season. I love summer. :)
