Counting down...

I know, I know… it’s been a while since I’ve really blogged.  Life has just been so hectic lately.  I’m always rushing to get to work, rushing to get all my work done and try to get the pile on my desk to go away, rushing to get home and rushing to get a million things done before bed.  I barely have time to spend with my kid let alone blog.  But in just 1.5 days the fam is going on vacation!!  We rented a cabin on a lake up north with Phil's cousin and his wife and will be there for 9 glorious days!  The first few days Phil will be working on his grandma’s roof along with his cousin and other family (hopefully that only takes 3 days) and then the rest of vacation will be nothing but relaxing.  I of course get to relax the whole time since I’ll have Remy to take care of.  Can’t exactly roof a house with a 9 month old.  So, good excuse for me and Remy to sit at the cabin and enjoy each others company!  I can’t wait!  Hopefully I’ll actually have something to blog about.  ;)

I'm sorry but who would do this to their child?!

Vent Day!

Every week I get an email from babycenter.com which gives me info on what your baby should be doing/learning/eating/blah, blah, blah.  I usually don’t read the comments but this time I did and I wish I hadn’t.  Holy smokes, people are ignorant, rude and so full of shit.  Some people are saying that mothers who breastfeed in public are being “shameful”, some say breast milk cannot possibly provide the nutrients a baby needs, some people say formula is shit, some say their kid is crawling by 3 months and walking by 6 and that their kid is some kind of super hero.  Who the f*** cares and how can you possibly have such stupid opinions on breastfeeding or formula.  Are you a doctor?  Some freakin people are unbelievable….  I don’t understand the need to be so rude.  If your baby is happy and healthy, that’s all that matters.

Vent Day!

School buses.  During winter hours (Sept through the end of May) I don’t start work until 8:30 so I never have to deal with them.  Once summer hours start I work at 8:00.  Now every single morning on my way to work I get stuck behind a school bus driving under the speed limit, stopping every mile or so.  I probably would have been 5 mins early for work this morning but instead I was right on time.  Annoying.  At least I wasn’t late I suppose…  I can’t wait for school to be over for the summer!!!

Chop, Chop

After much debate I finally decided to chop my hair off.  I had been growing it out for the last 3 ½ years and it was pretty dang long.  Most days I was putting it up in a bun because I just don’t have time in the morning to mess with it.  Well, it was getting too long for the bun and started looking dumb with that too.  So, what’s the point of having long hair if I barely wear it down?  Plus I just needed a change.  So, yesterday I chopped it off on my lunch hour.  She cut 11+ inches off and I donated it.  It felt really good to donate my hair!  I wonder who will get to enjoy it...  Maybe every 3 ½ years I’ll chop it and donate it.  :)  Grow it, chop it, grow it, chop it.  Fun stuff!  I’m still getting used to it.  She cut it a little shorter than I wanted.  Oh well, it grows back, right?

I also got my “mother’s day” ring in the mail yesterday.  I LOVE it!!!

Mother's Day

Last weekend I got to enjoy my very first Mother’s Day.  I feel so incredibly blessed to be able to call myself this little guy’s momma.  He means the world to me and I can’t imagine my life without him.  :)

I was looking forward to Mother’s Day so I could sleep in.  Phil has only gotten up with Remy one day in the last 7+ months.  I don’t mind getting up because he’s so cute and happy in the morning and I don’t like sleeping in too late because then I feel like the day is half over already.  But to sleep until 8:00 was my goal.  Rem usually wakes up sometime between 6:15-7:30 so Phil was going to get up with him but the little stinker slept in until 8:00!  He was my alarm clock.  :)  Phil is lucky he didn’t have to get up early!

I was also looking forward to Mother's Day just because I wanted to spend the day with my little family and do something fun - no cleaning, no laundry, no sitting at home.  Those things could wait.
Phil made me some yummy waffles for breakfast and I slowly got ready for my day.  It was so nice to be able to enjoy my coffee and take a nice long shower and not worry about Remy needing something because Phil was watching him.  Around noon we were off.  We grabbed some Subway on our way to the Como Zoo and had ourselves a little picnic outside on the grass.  Then we walked around the zoo and enjoyed the great outdoors!  There were barely any animals outside so the zoo was pretty boring but it was just nice to be out and about.  Remy loved the zoo.  He was squealing with delight!  I honestly don’t think he noticed any of the animals – he just liked all the people and being outside.  After the zoo we headed to Hudson and walked down by the river and got some frozen yogurt at the new place downtown, Freestyle yogurt (or something of that sort).  Apparently mothers got free ice cream that day so that was really nice!  Then we swung by Phil’s mom’s house for a quick visit and then went home to watch a movie and enjoy some Savoy’s pizza (my favorite).
Phil got me a ring for Mother’s Day but I don’t have it yet.  I should be getting it this week or early next week.  I’ll post a pic once I get it.  It’s super cute (I picked it out)!  Then Remy made me a cute little Mother’s Day gift with the assistance of his auntie Jewells (also his daycare lady).  It was so sweet!  Phil also was going to make something but didn’t have time.  Apparently I’ll be getting that later this week too.  Phil’s a procrastinator.  ;)
It was such a nice day!  I wonder what Phil will want to do on Father’s Day.  :)
