Grand Marais

Finally, I blog!  The weekend of October 4th two friends and I drove up to Grand Marais to visit our friend Sarah who moved up there a few years ago.  This was my first time visiting.  The thought of a road trip sounds fun at first but then after a few hours it gets old and you just want to be there.  But it was nice to chit-chat with my lady friends and relax.  But we missed our friend who couldn't come.  We got up there late Friday night so it was too dark to go explore.  Plus we were exhausted for sitting in the car for 5-6 hours.  So we just hung out and chit-chatted while we watched Sarah's roommates cook for 2 hours.  Yes, it took them almost that long to cook their food and they didn't eat until like 11:30 at night.  Crazy people.  ;)

Saturday morning we got up and went to go get some breakfast.  We stuffed our bellies full and started our hiking.  The first place we went was right in Grand Marais.  I can't for the life of me remember what it was called.  We watched the waves and walked to the lighthouse.

Next stop was Oberg Mountain.  This is when it rained the most and it was super windy.  But luckily it wasn’t so bad in the trees.  It was a BEAUTIFUL place!!  I'm sure it's even more beautiful when it's not super foggy and rainy.  It’s amazing how much beauty can be found in Minnesota!

After Oberg we were all cold and wet so we took a small break in the car and then went to Temperance.  Another beautiful place and the waves were humungous!  I wasn’t paying enough attention and one got me and soaked my tennis shoes.  Nothing better than soaking wet feet in 40 some degree weather!  Haha.  After that I was pretty much chilled to the bone and couldn’t warm up for the life of me.  After Temperance we headed back to our friend’s place and played some games with her roommates.

The next morning we got up and went to get “the world’s best donuts” (which were good but definitely not the best I’ve had) and then went in some shops downtown.  Then we headed home!  It was such a short trip and I wish we could have stayed longer BUT I also missed Remy so very much (give me a break, it was my first weekend away from him).  Now that I've been to Grand Marais I can't wait to go back and bring Phil and Remy.  :)  So much more to see!

On our way home we had to make a pit stop at my boss's wife's lodge to take a pic:

Family Pic Sneak Peek

I know I've been really bad with blogging lately.  Life is busy, give me a break!  Lately all of our spare time is going towards working on the basement.  The floor is all done except for the small bedroom.  I'd like to get that painted before we do the floor.  Pictures to come...

Over the weekend we had Remy's 1 year photo opp and we did some family pictures as well.  I just wanted to give you a sneak peak from Jess Arco Photography.

Goodbye Concrete Floors

So after years of Phil bugging me about putting in some kind of flooring in the basement he finally got me to say yes.  Menards was having a sale on flooring so we went and looked and I actually liked one.  I mean, it's not super nice real wood or anything.  But it's not too shabby and much much better than concrete.  So We picked up all 750ish square feet on Thursday and Friday and started putting it down yesterday.  We got Phil's office done in one afternoon.  It probably would have gone faster if we didn't have Remy to take care of as well.  Phil's mom was nice enough to come over and watch him for a few hours but we still had to make supper and put Rem to bed.  So after Remy was sleeping we finished it up.  Only one more bedroom, a hallway and a family room to go....

Complete!

Phil is at home painting the office as we speak!  I can't wait to see the finished product.  We still need to buy trim but we'll wait for that to go on sale too.  :)

8 Adults + 6 Kids = Crazy Fun

This summer the Monday crew decided to head to the cabin!  My friend Rachel’s parents have a cabin on a river and we went a few years with all of our dogs before we all had kids and then we stopped going once the kids started coming.  This year we decided to all go with the kiddos, no dogs allowed.  :)  Personally, I think this was easier with the kids than the dogs, especially now that we have three dogs.  Oh how life has changed…  I love it!

Guess what…………  I’m 100% done pumping!  Hip-hip hooray!  Hip-hip hooray!  I can’t even explain to you how good this feels.  No more waking up and pumping.  No more being tied down.  My boobs finally belong to ME again!  Yay!  I just had to share my happiness with you.  :)

Pump, pump, pump it up!

I’m very excited to announce that I am no longer pumping at work!  Yay me!!!  Only those who were pumping full time working moms would really understand how exciting that is.  Pumping is a job itself so I’m so excited to finally be done during the day.  I finally have a full lunch hour!  I still pump once in the morning when I wake up and once before I go to bed.  I’m waiting for Remy to for sure sleep through the night before I give it up completely.  Most nights he sleeps through the night but sometimes he will wake up around 4-5 a.m. and be hungry (like last night).  Pretty soon I’m going to cut him off and no longer offer the boob at that time, even if he wakes up and wants it.  But I’ll give him one more month.  If he's going most nights without it, he doesn't need it anymore.  I’ve got at least 1-2 more months of milk in the freezer so he will probably be on breastmilk until about a year, even if I quit pumping now.  Don’t worry, I’m sure you’ll see a blog when I’m 100% done pumping.  Maybe I’ll even throw a party?!  ;)
